BeFree FAQ

I have problems installing Windows using an USB CD-ROM.

Windows 2000 and certain versions of Windows XP SP1 seem to have a problem with the drivers for USB.
One possibility is to first copy the files from the CD-ROM to the harddisk and then run the setup. This can be done either by booting from USB key, or by placing the harddisk with an adapter into a desktop computer with a CD_ROM drive.

Where can I find the correct drivers?

Please check download section for BeFREE drivers. There can be found a driver package for Windows XP/2000. For other Windows versions and other Operating System please check the notes where to find drivers.

I have problems with the installation of the touchscreen drivers.

Please check the Touch driver installation document.

How can I operate the cashdrawer?

You can operate the cashdrawer either through OPOS, or by programming the IO pins directly. Please refer to the manual for more information.

My Compact Flash card is not recognised.

1. The BeFREE must be off (CF is not for plug and play, it behaves like a fixed disk)

2. Insert the Compact Flash "upside down" into the slot

3. When booting press <Del> to enter BIOS setup

4. Advanced BIOS settings > harddisk boot priority, make your compact flash card first device (use Pg. up/dwn)

5. Press F10 to save and exit

If at step 4 the Compact Flash is not listed, something is wrong with the hardware, maybe the card is not inserted correctly.
